When you leave employment, you become a regular inactive member. You'll no longer have correctional officer retirement eligibility. Regular KPERS age and service requirements will apply when you retire.

*Reduced Retirement Benefits You can retire at age 55 with 10 years of service. There is a 0.6% reduction for each month you are between age 55 and age 60, and a 0.2% reduction for each month you are between age 60 and age 62.

Your account earns interest for 5 years (2 years for KPERS 3 members). There's a 31-day waiting period after you end employment before you can withdraw.
