The Vaccines for Children (VFC) program helps provide vaccines to children whose parents or guardians may not be able to afford them. This helps ensure that all children have a better chance of getting their recommended vaccinations on schedule.

The 317 program is a federally funded program that provides vaccines at no cost to adults who might not otherwise be vaccinated because of an inability to pay.

Laws & Rules. The Vaccines For Children (VFC) program is a federally funded, state administered program that provides free vaccines to eligible children ages 18 and younger. Vaccines are provided at no cost to the provider or the patient. Providers are able to charge an administration fee for the vaccine.

The Vaccines For Children (VFC) Program supplies vaccines at no cost to providers who serve eligible children from birth through 18 years of age.

Patient Eligibility Screening Record A screening record of all children 18 years of age or younger who receive immunizations through the TVFC Program must be kept in the health-care provider's office. The record may be completed by the parent, guardian, or individual of record or by the healthcare provider.

Spoiled or expired VFC vaccines must be returned in their original container (unopened vial or manufacturer-prefilled syringe) within six months of the spoilage or expiration date.
