In general though, the process will start with you writing and sending your Chapter President or Membership Vice President a formal letter of resignation stating why you are dropping your sorority.

In most instances, you cannot quit your fraternity and join another one. All national fraternities are part of the National Interfraternity Conference (NIC). The NIC explicitly states that you cannot join another fraternity if you have already been initiated into one.

Pledging is an intensive orientation and probationary period for students pursuing fraternity membership. Over the course of six weeks or more, pledges study all facets of fraternity life and the Greek system.

Five (5) days prior to initiation – One-time Membership Fee: $300/new initiate.

When you quit a fraternity, you will essentially be telling the fraternity that you no longer want to be friends. Common protocol is informing the president and giving him your fraternity pin. Many people also give the president a letter indicating that they are quitting.
