In ance with CAPR 160-2, if an SSO involves a possible reportable accident or incident, CAP/SE, or their designee, has sole responsibility for reporting CAP aircraft accidents and incidents to the NTSB, FAA, or other government entity, as applicable.

CAPR 160-2, Section 5.9: "All injuries and illnesses that occur as a result of, or during, any CAP event, mission or activity will be reported as a bodily injury mishap. This includes illnesses or injuries that are believed to have pre-existed before the event or activity."

Any commander in a CAP member's chain of command, or an Incident Commander (IC) during a supervised mission, may immediately suspend CAP sUAS flying privileges of a member for cause.

CAP Regulation 160-2, Safety Reporting & Review, A key component of the SMS is a commitment to report and analyze all mishaps, hazards, and other “near miss” occurrences to identify the hazards and control the risks which were revealed. Reporting, review, and prevention are key components of the safety program.

Reporting is vital and foundational to an ideal safety culture. Encouraging consistent and continuous reporting instills trust and reduces fear of speaking up. Members should have confidence that important information is both heard and acted upon. Members should never be afraid to speak up – it could save a life.
