VFC resolutions passed by the ACIP form the basis for VFC program policies on vaccine availability and usage. They may not necessarily match the general usage recommendations of the ACIP, but rather represent the rules that providers must follow for administering each specific vaccine under the VFC program.

VFC site visits help determine a provider's compliance with VFC program requirements. This includes identifying potential issues with VFC vaccine accountability and determining whether VFC vaccines are being handled, stored, and administered in ance with the laws and policies governing the VFC program.

What are the Costs or Fees? There is no charge for any vaccines given by a VFC provider to eligible children.

The Vaccines For Children (VFC) program is a federally funded, state administered program that provides free vaccines to eligible children ages 18 and younger. Vaccines are provided at no cost to the provider or the patient. Providers are able to charge an administration fee for the vaccine.

Title 19 (also referred to as “Medical Assistance” or “Medicaid”) is a joint federal-state welfare program which provides funding to cover the costs of nursing home and assisted living care for individuals who meet certain income and asset requirements.

IPOL is a multi-dose vial and it does not have a beyond use date. As mentioned previously, multi-dose vials are good until the expiration date printed on the vial or package unless they have been contaminated or compromised.

Illinois state law requires certain immunizations for children and adults enrolled in child care, school, or college. State law also mandates immunizations for adults in specific fields of work (healthcare).

Title XXI (21): Children who have Title XXI (21) or State-Funded coverage are considered fully insured though the State's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). These children through age 18 are eligible for CHIP vaccines and are NOT eligible for VFC vaccines.
