Housing Choice Voucher Program. The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program is the federal government's major program for providing housing assistance to over 2.3 million American families.

The section eight income limit is calculated by taking 50% of the median family income. Then, by subtracting that number from the monthly rent or mortgage payment plus utility costs. You are in a good position if your income doesn't exceed more than 30% of the local area median income.
