Get Caq Certificate Number

The Certificat d'acceptation du Québec (CAQ) is a mandatory immigration document for all international students at McGill*. The CAQ issued by Immigration Quebec. This document authorizes you to study in Quebec and is a required document to apply for your study permit.

Canada–Quebec Foreign workers whose destination is Quebec must obtain the consent of Quebec's Minister of Immigration, Francization and Integration (MIFI) to enter Quebec and take temporary employment. This consent is granted through the issuance of a Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ).

All applications for a CAQ for studies must now be submitted electronically and all supporting documents will have to be submitted electronically via the Arrima portal. After you submit the online application and pay the processing fee, you will receive a CAQ personalized document checklist.

The CAQ is issued for a maximum of 49 months.

This number can be found on one of the following documents: Québec Selection Certificate (CSQ) Québec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) Any other personal communication sent by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration.

You will receive a file number in the section Access my file 48 hours after submitting your application. You need this number to submit the required documents for your application....Make sure all documents are: Legible; Complete; Accurate.

You can find your personal reference code at the top of your results page after you answer all the questions in the tool. You should write it down and print a copy of your results and/or checklist. This code is only valid for 60 days from the date you get it.

If your spouse plans to join you in Canada for the duration of your studies or internship, a work permit is required. Your spouse should apply for an open work permit, which is not job-specific and does not require your spouse to get a CAQ for work, or a Labour Market Impact Assessment.
