California Fire Permits are free. They are valid for one calendar year and should be acquired before your hike or horseback ride. Permits can be obtained at any California U.S. Forest Service, BLM, or California Division of Forestry office.

Burn Permits You can also obtain a burning permit by calling 1-877-OK2-BURN (652-2876). Fires should not be initiated before 8:00 a.m. and should be completely extinguished before dark.

It is the responsibility of each person to check the airshed each day during the burn window before burning; the most up-to-date airshed information is available by calling the Burn Line at **541-476-9663 option 3 (541-476-WOOD) after 7:00 am**.

Burn only dry, natural vegetation that grew on the property where you are burning. Never burn garbage, construction debris, painted wood, wet piles, or piles composed primarily of leaves and pine needles. For best smoke dispersion, recommended burn hours are 9 AM to 3 PM.

How do I get a burn permit? Go to https://apps.sd.gov/ag73burnpermit/ and you can get a permit anytime during the burn season, even during holidays, weekends, and after hours. If you need assistance you may call 1- 800-275-4955 (Great Plains Dispatch Center) during office hours (M-F 8am-4:30pm).

Under the reduced fire restrictions, campfires and charcoal barbeques will be allowed in all areas of the Forest. A California Campfire Permit is required to build a campfire outside of a designated Campfire Use Site. California Campfire Permits are available for free download from .readyforwildfire.org.

You will need to call the Dispatch Center at 1-800-472-2376 or 909-356-3805 prior to burning to advise them you are planning to burn. They are open 24 hours 7 days a week. You will either be given permission to burn at that time or you will be told that burning is suspended for the day.
