Living allowance, and education award to pay for college or trade school expenses, or to repay qualified student loans, loan deferment and interest forbearance on qualified student loans, while in service, professional development, alumni network, and more.

You also have the choice of submitting one regular application and one team leader application. You may only have two applications in total.

The two most common statuses are “Submitted” and “Under Review.” VISTA candidates who are offered the position are “Selected.” Once they log-in to My AmeriCorps and click “Accept” they move to “Pending State Office Approval.” Once approved by the AmeriCorps Region Office and placed with a project, they are “Assigned.”

Full Time members must serve a minimum of 1,700 hours during a maximum of 12 months. Half Time members must serve a minimum of 900 hours during a maximum of 24 months, but they usually serve a 12 month term. Reduced HalfTime members must serve a minimum of 675 hours during a maximum of 12 months.

AmeriCorps currently receives more than 530,000 applications for just over 80,000 spots, a 15 percent acceptance rate.

For each AmeriCorps Application, you must submit two different references. You may use the same reference for each application.
