Anyone who used Google to search and clicked on a link in its search results between Oct. 25, 2006 and Sept. 30, 2013 can now collect part of a $23 million settlement, as long as they submit a claim within the next six weeks.

Settlement Payment means the transfer, or contractual undertaking (including by automated clearing house transaction) to effect a transfer, of cash or other property to effect a Settlement.

The lawsuit alleged that Google violated Illinois law by collecting and storing biometric data from photos stored in "Google Photos." Google has begun paying out compensation to Illinois residents as part of a $100 million settlement deal, resulting from claims the internet giant had been "storing biometric data" without the necessary consent, in violation of state law.

How to claim Google settlement money. Before you make a claim, you'll need to register a “class member ID” via the settlement administrator handling claims. Once you've received your ID number from the administrator, enter it in the “submit claim” page of the settlement's website.

The biggest payout from the settlement will go to legal fees for the lawyers behind it. They can claim up to 25 percent of the $725 million, or a little over $180 million. There are eight named plaintiffs in the case, and they could receive up to $15,000 each.
