In order to operate legally, your food truck must have a license from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). You will also need a local county health department permit where you plan to do business. You can get these permits by completing an application and paying the required fees.

Please call (626) 430-5635 for an appointment. If plans are not approved, simply revise & resubmit for review (Additional fees may apply). Once the plans are approved, obtain necessary licenses and permits from all applicable agencies prior to construction or remodel.

Get a Texas Food Handler's License (Texas Health & Safety Code § 437.0195 (2022).) In addition to the food handler permit, the food you sell must be packaged in a way that prevents contamination (there are exceptions for large items like wedding cakes) and is properly labeled.

Temporary Food Event Permit The Health Department has established procedures that can assist with the advanced planning and management of TFE. Individuals or organizations are required to obtain a temporary food event permit for any event in which they are offering food for public consumption.

Kendall County does not have a building code and does not have authority to enforce building codes. In unincorporated areas of Kendall County, the County does not have zoning authority for commercial, institutional, or multi-family construction.
