We provide water and sewerage services to Devon, Cornwall and small parts of Dorset and Somerset. Our region is nearly 4,300 square miles (11,137 square kilometres) in size. There are 1.6 million residents and around 5 million visitors a year.

In East Devon the water comes from deep underground boreholes and this water is classed as slightly or moderately hard.

South West Water is owned by Pennon Group Ltd (UK), a UK plc listed on the London Stock Exchange. Pennon Group also owns Viridor, a waste management company, and the Bournemouth Water brand. South West Water provides drinking water and waste water services in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset.

Wimbleball Lake, high on Exmoor, holds water from the River Haddeo, forming a reservoir with a net storage of 21,320 megalitres and a surface area of 150 hectares. Wimbleball supplies Exeter and parts of East Devon by releasing water into the River Exe. This water is subsequently abstracted at Tiverton and Exeter.

The main source of the water supplied by South West Water is the twenty reservoirs they own, with 90% of the water coming from reservoirs and rivers. The company makes great efforts to keep the water clean while allowing access to the public for sport and recreation.
