NEW DELHI: Male personnel in the central government who are single parents to dependant children can now avail of child care leave (CCL) of a total 730 days during their entire period of service, a provision that till now applied only to women employees.

CHILD CARE LEAVE (CCL) APPLICATION.

An eligible employee is entitled to a total of 12 weeks of leave in a 12-month period. Leave may be taken upon the birth of a child to the employee, to care for such child; or upon the placement of a child with the employee for adoption or foster care, to care for such child ("FMLA child care leave").

a) CCL may be granted at 100% of the leave salary for the first 365 days and . 80% of the leave salary for the next 365 days. (b) CCL may be extended to single male parents who may include unmarried or widower or divorcee employees.

AP Child Care leave Rules a) Child Care leave of two months can be sanctioned in not less than 3 spells to look after two children up to the age of 18 years and with disabled children up to 22 years. The Child Care leave would be permitted only if the child is dependent on the Government servant.

FMLA LEAVE ENTITLEMENT AND INCREMENTS OF LEAVE An employee is entitled to up to 12 workweeks of FMLA leave for most qualifying reasons or up to 26 workweeks of FMLA leave for military caregiver leave. The employee's actual workweek is the basis for determining the employee's FMLA leave entitlement.
