In California, any significant release or threatened release of a hazardous material requires immediate reporting by the responsible person to the Cal OES State Warning Center (800) 852-7550, and either the Unified Program Agency (UPA) or 911.

An owner or operator is required to report a release or discharge under 3750.06 of the Ohio Revised Code anytime there is a release or spill of a regulated chemical which exceeds its assigned Reportable Quantity (RQ) and leaves the facility property line.

Report any release that impacts public health or the environment. Spills of any amount which cause a film or sheen on a waterway must also be reported. Under Ohio law, spills of petroleum products (diesel fuel, gasoline, hydraulic fluid, etc.) of 25 gallons or more on or adjacent to a public roadway must be reported.
