Otterbein is a regionally-accredited liberal arts university. Pets. For purposes of health and sanitation, only aquarium fish, hermit crabs, and small turtles are allowed in any residential area with the agreement of roommate(s). Students are permitted one fish tank of 20 gallons or less per residential room.

Free Zone. FreeZone is Otterbein's LGBTQIA+ (gay, , bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual) student organization. The work that FreeZone does spans almost every facet of campus life, from community-building social events to awareness-raising educational events.

Commuter Status is granted to students who are living at the primary home of their parent/guardian within a 30 mile radius of Otterbein's campus. Off-Campus Status is granted to rising seniors or students who meet one of the other criteria listed below and live in an off-campus house or apartment.

All rooms are clean, furnished and air-conditioned. Rooms will be furnished with a dresser, extra-long twin bed, desk, chair and closet per person. Most rooms are carpeted. A shared kitchen will be available in the building along with several lounge areas.

The town of Westerville was also home to the Anti-Saloon League. Today Otterbein is still, officially, a “dry” campus. Advancing the common good remains a mission-driven priority.

Otterbein University's ranking in the 2022-2023 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities Midwest, #9. Its tuition and fees are $34,274.

As a residential campus, Otterbein expects all students to live in campus housing until their senior year unless they are living at home with their parents within a 30-mile radius of campus.
