You will be doing lifesaving work that results in life-changing milestones for both you and the animals. Requirements: 18+ years old. Must complete volunteer process and orientation.

Anyone under the age of 18 must provide their parent's or legal guardian's written approval with the application. Volunteers younger than 15 years of age must have their parent accompany them to their New Volunteer Orientation and during subsequent volunteer experiences.

Persons 10-12 years of age may volunteer in the small dog or cat room WITH a parent/guardian working alongside them. Persons 13-15 years of age may volunteer in the big dog area with a parent/guardian if the Director approves. Persons 16+ years of age may volunteer alone anywhere in the Center.

Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to work independently with cats and 16 years of age or older to work independently with dogs or to work independently in the Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital. Volunteers between 7 and 14 may volunteer if volunteering with a parent or guardian over the age of 18.

Youth volunteers 12 to 14 years of age must always be accompanied by and work alongside their parent/guardian while assisting with hands-on care of animals only after they, and their parent/guardian successfully complete animal handling training. These volunteers are eligible for dog handling.

Just wants a home and some love. Dogs & Puppies Adoption Fee are by age; Puppies 1-11 months, $140, 1-5 yrs $110, over 5 yrs $95. Includes all age appropriate Vaccinations, Spay/Neuter, & HW test if old enough, and dewormed. We don't do HW tests on anything younger than 6 months, because it will not detect.

Please note: all volunteers under 18 years of age must have their parent or legal guardian sign their release form, one of the steps of our application process. All volunteers under the age of 16 must also have a parent or guardian present and involved at all times whenever volunteering.
