The Institute recommends that the architect and the client have a signed, written agreement that, as a minimum, clearly defines the services to be provided and the fees to be paid. This agreement should be entered into before the architect commences work on a project.

RAIC Document Six “Schedule A – Services” provides a comprehensive list of services provided by architects for virtually any type of project. These new schedules provide focused lists of services for specific project types.

What is in the Architect's Contract? At a minimum, every contract should contain the name, address, and signatures of both parties, the scope of work, the project cost and payment terms, the schedule of work, and the authority.
