Iowa's Time of Transfer (ToT) septic system inspection law requires that every home or building served by a septic system have that septic system inspected prior to the sale or deed transfer of the home or building. All inspections must be conducted by an inspector that has been certified by the Iowa DNR.

In the Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati, southeast Indiana area, the cost for a new or replacement septic tank and leach field ranges anywhere from $6,000 to $15,000.

Take the test at your leisure and bring, fax, or mail it back to the Health Department to be graded. If you pass with a score of 80% or more, you will receive a wallet-size certificate -- then you are free to your septic system.
