The Tolowa Dee-ni' Homeland, the Taa-laa-waa-dvn, lies along the Pacific Northwest Coast between the watersheds of Wilson Creek and Smith River in California and the Winchuck, Chetco, Pistol, Rogue, Elk and Sixes rivers, extending inland up the Rogue River throughout the Applegate Valley in Oregon in the United States.

What are called reservations in most states are sometimes identified as such in California, but smaller land areas are also called Rancherias. Rancheria is a small reservation, the land was purchased by small tribes or by the government in behalf to those tribes.

The Elk Valley Rancheria Tribe is comprised of Tolowa, Wiyot, Yurok, and Hupa Indians. We invite you to learn about our history; and experience our culture, surroundings, and spirit.

The Elk Valley Rancheria is a rancheria and federally recognized tribe of Tolowa and Yurok people. It is located in the CDP of Bertsch-Oceanview, Del Norte County, California, just east of Crescent City.

The Tolowa Dee-ni' Nation is a federally recognized tribe, which owns 805 acres of land on or adjacent to its reservation in Del Norte County, north of Crescent City.

The Tolowas were fishing people. Tolowa men caught fish and mollusks from their canoes. They also hunted sea lions, birds, and small game. Tolowa women gathered acorns and ground them into meal, as well as collecting seaweed, berries, and other plants.
