When the Scouts earn their Webelos rank, they will wear the badge sewn onto the left pocket. The Arrow of Light rank patch goes directly below the left pocket. It is the only Cub Scout badge that may be worn on the Boy Scout uniform.

We recommend the gold, silver or bronze fleur de lis pin be worn on the collar (right side) or on the right pocket flap of the uniform. The days of uniform police are over.

There's only one right place for a merit badge sash: over the right shoulder. It can be worn over or under the epaulet (shoulder loop).

You can contact a local history museum, library or historical society. One of these organizations might want to highlight Scouting memorabilia specific to the area. Let's say you find an old uniform, which features a troop number sewed on it. You could try contacting the unit's leaders to see if they want it.

On the back of the sash, additional merit badges may be sewn as well as temporary insignia may be sewn. "Temporary insignia" is defined by the BSA as special insignia for participating in unit, District, Council or national events or programs. Previous rank, service stars and pins are NOT to be worn on the sash.

The World Crest is worn above the left pocket. It is centered between the left shoulder seam and the top of the left pocket. It signifies that the Boy Scouts of America is part of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. The badges of rank go on the left pocket as shown in the image above.

Official uniform pants, shorts, or skorts, and Cub Scout socks are optional.

The patch should be located directly below the shoulder seam and should be the BSA issued flag patch.

Scouts BSA has seven ranks: Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and Eagle. Requirements are found in the Scouts BSA Handbook and online. Advancement has four steps: Learn, Test, Review and Recognize.
