Kevin Vereen became the 27th USAREC commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. John W. Foley accepted responsibility as the new senior enlisted leader of the command.

The Army Chain of Command is a line of authority and responsibility, in which orders are transmitted from one unit to another and one Soldier to another. Orders are transmitted down the chain of command from a higher ranking Soldier, such as a Commissioned Officer or NCO to a lower-ranking Soldier.

USAREC is a major subordinate command under the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), and is commanded by a Major General and assisted by a Deputy Commanding General (Brigadier General) and a Command Sergeant Major.

TRADOC executes its mission through five subordinate commands and centers: U.S. Army Combined Arms Center. U.S. Army Recruiting Command.

However, recruiting brigades and recruiting battalions should maintain cost, evaluation, and AAR information sufficient to provide detailed information that HQ USAREC may from time to time request concerning effectiveness and costs of TAIR and costs of TAIR activities.

Recruiting describes the eight recruiting functions - mission command, intelligence, prospecting, interviewing, processing, leading Future Soldiers, training and leader development, and sustainment.

The USAREC headquarters, located at Fort Knox, Ky., provides the command, control and staff support to the recruiting force.
