Corrective Reading is a powerful research-based reading program that helps to improve word reading and reading comprehension for students who have a history of reading difficulties.

About the program SRA Corrective Reading provides intensive Direct Instruction-based reading intervention for students in Grades 3-Adult who are reading below grade level. Four levels for decoding plus four for comprehension address the varied reading deficits and skill levels found among older students.

Decoding B2 is appropriate for students in grades 4 through 12 who have some decoding problems, who do not read at an adequate rate, who still tend to confuse words with similar spellings, and who tend to make word- guessing mistakes.

Corrective Reading incorporates best practices in decoding (learning to read) by including phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency-building activities. Further, best practices in comprehension (reading to learn) are evident through focused instruction in vocabulary and comprehension.

Corrective Reading is typically taught to students in grades 4 and above whose reading is characterized by misidentified words, confusion of similar words, word omissions or insertions, lack of attention to punctuation, and poor comprehension.

Decoding C is designed for relatively poor readers in grades 3 through 12. The program is appropriate for students who understand English and whose scores on the Corrective Reading placement test indicate that they belong in the program.
