Tier 4 members are eligible to collect a pension, or vested in the retirement system, after achieving 5 years of service credit and are required to contribute 3 percent of their salaries until they have completed 10 years of service credit.

Brochure #945. Participants in the 57/5 Retirement Plan who have five or more years of Credited Service, at least two years of which are Membership Service, are eligible to receive a Service Retirement Benefit at age 57.

The 62/5 Retirement Plan, also referred to as the Basic Tier 4 Plan, allows participants to retire with a full pension at age 62 with at least five years of Credited Service, or with a reduced pension between the ages of 55 and 61.

Tier 4 Transit 25/55 1.5% times FAS times the number of years of Allowable Service in the Transit Authority in excess of 30 years of such service. In addition to these percentages, a key factor in the calculation of your retirement benefit is your FAS. In general, your FAS is a three-year average of wages earned.

Tier 4 — Accidental Death Benefit (Article 15)

Your pension factor equals either: a) 1⅔% per year if you have less than 20 years of service, or b) 2% per year if you have between 20 and 30 years of service. Under Tier 4, you would receive 1 ½% for each additional service year beyond 30.
