The Texas Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certification form is available from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. This form should only be used for official University business. The Exemption Certification form is completed and signed at the department level.

Food products are not taxable....Prepared food – Taxable Hot food*. Hot drinks such as cocoa, coffee or tea. Cold drinks sold with meals or with eating utensils**. Any food sold with eating utensils**. Sandwiches (unless sold frozen or partially frozen and require thawing or heating by the customer before eating).

The resale certificate is the seller's evidence as to why sales tax was not collected on that transaction and should be retained in the seller's books and records for four years.

Look on the Sales and Use tax menu under Account Self-Service and select "Request a Duplicate Sales Tax Permit". Follow the prompts validating address, location and approval. Please note: Permits are typically printed and mailed out on the following business day.

A nonprofit corporation organized under the Development Corporation Act of 1979 (Article 5190.6, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes) is exempt from franchise and sales taxes.
