BS EN 1090 Part 2 is entitled “Technical requirements for the execution of steel structures” and specifies the requirements for the manufacturing of structural steelwork - this includes both bolting and welding.

Weld sizes have an undersize tolerance allowable over about 10% of their length but in general the weld is considered a minimum.
