A BMBE is defined as any business enterprises engaged in production, processing, or manufacturing of products, including agro-processing, as well as trading and services, with total assets of not more than P3 million.

Other examples of micro businesses are laundry shops, computer shops, printing shops, and canteens. It must still be noted that their total assets shall not exceed Three Million Pesos (P3,000,000.00) to be considered as BMBE to be qualified for the incentives provided by law.

BMBE Benefits Any person who registered a business will be exempted from income tax and exempted from paying a minimum wage but will receive the same social security and health care benefits.

The BIR has also ruled that while BMBEs are exempt from income tax, they are required to file income tax returns. Any person, natural or juridical, may apply for registration as a BMBE.

A resident alien, non-resident citizen, or non-resident alien involved in business or practice of profession within the country, or. A trustee of a trust engaged in trade or business. A guardian of a minor engaged in trade or business.

Persons, who are not VAT-registered, who sell goods, properties or services, whose annual gross sales and/or receipts do not exceed three million pesos (Php3,000,000.00) and are exempt from value-added tax (VAT) under Section 109 (BB) of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended by Republic Act (RA) No. 10963.
