The 2014 OASAS Prevention Guidelines require prevention providers to allocate 60 percent of their OASAS funded prevention efforts to the delivery of evidence -based programs and strategies (EBPS) in their Workplan each year.

One example of an indirect functional assessment is the Functional Analysis Screening Tool (FAST). It includes a questionnaire with 16 items which can be administered to anyone who is familiar with your child's behaviors and is aware of what happens before the behavior, as well as the consequences.

In a functional assessment, the purpose of an individual's behaviours is explored by collecting data specific to the individual, their relationships and their environments. Using this information, the specialist is able to develop appropriate teaching and/or intervention strategies that are specific to the individual.

Functional assessment measures an individual's level of function and ability to perform specific tasks on a safe and dependable basis over a defined period.

To assess and identify functional strengths and impairments to: Help the individual articulate his or her recovery life vision or goal, service goals, needs and priorities. Prioritize needs based on the individual's preferences and posed risk.

The Functional Assessment of Mental Health and Addiction scale (FAMHA) was specifically designed to meet criteria for both mental health issues and addictions. Dual diagnosed clients have multiple service needs in mental health, addiction treatment, and medical interventions.
