Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.

NEW DELHI: Fresh enrolments under the country's flagship skills training plan have halted in the absence of a plan to switch over from the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 2.0 that ended on March 31 to its next version.

'How to get a job' may be the most pressing question for youngsters in India today, and going by PMKVY data, the best courses for getting a job today are electronics and hardware, apparel, retail, telecom and logistics.

On an average trainee will get Rs. 8000 as a reward (one time only). This would be given by third party assessment body. However in order to receive the reward, trainee will have to appear for assessment test and based on the test results, reward would be given.

12th class dropouts or 10th pass students can enroll in PMKVY to develop their skill set. As per the document released by the officials of GOI for PMKVY, the objective of this scheme is to encourage and promote Skill Development for the youth throughout the country.

The New India Assurance Company Ltd. has created a master policy for all the candidates who will receive the insurance benefit under PMKVY scheme with a validity of three years from the date of certification.

PMKVY Scholarship Scheme Under this PMKVY Programme, Training and Assessment fees are totally paid by the Government.

Under PMKVY skills training, nationalised standard will be maintained. Students, who will undergo this training program, can apply for further education in various prominent institutions. Moreover, the certification under this program will also be taken as an advantage in the job selection process.
