You earn military education promotion points at the rate of 4-points per week of training. A week is defined as a minimum of 40 training hours. There's quite an extensive list of courses that are not creditable for promotion points, here are just a few of these types: NCOPDS courses (e.g. BLC and ALC)

The Army Promotion Points Worksheet consists of the same sections and buckets of points as the RA, just laid out and processed on a worksheet as opposed to being fully maintained in a soldiers personnel (eMILPO) and training (ATRRS) files. Soldiers who are promotable (selected for promotion by an HQDA board) and serving in positions authorized at the promotable grade will have a “P” next to the rank in Part I block c of the NCOER and will be profiled with NCO's at the higher grade.

The Army has silently integrated your Promotion Point Worksheet (PPW) into IPPS-A. If you log in to IPPS-A and do not see a tile for “Promotion Points” on your dashboard, simply use the global search feature to search for “Promotion Points”.

Steps to access your PPW – Under Army Links click on Enlisted Promotions, at the bottom of the screen, check the box left of submit, then click the submit button. Points tab: View all promotion points ing to Soldiers IPPS-A record. Promotion points can be updated/corrected in the Soldiers profile management tile by HR Pros with the additional promotion role. Preferences tab: View which of your Soldiers have or have not made elections and what they elected.
