Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) is a field within education which seeks to research, develop, and implement curriculum changes that increase learner achievement in educational settings. The field focuses on how people learn and the best ways to educate.

From a UDL perspective, we think of four components to a curriculum: the goals, the methods, the materials, and the assessment. They are very closely interrelated in that the goal is the primary thing with which a lesson begins and the others line up to achieve that goal.

Cal State LA has 100 academic programs in 55 majors in seven colleges. Nationally-recognized programs include business, engineering and nursing, and Cal State LA is listed as one of California's major producers of teachers.

Research and develop curricular and instructional programs that provide for active and engaging learning for all students in all content areas.

Any curriculum consists of several components: objectives, attitudes, time, students and teachers, needs analysis, classroom activities, materials, study skills, language skills, vocabulary, grammar and assessment.

The campus is located in the eastern region of Los Angeles, in the University Hills district, facing the San Gabriel Mountains, at the center of Los Angeles metropolitan area just five miles east of Downtown Los Angeles.
