Differential Pressure (DP) transmitters measure the difference between two pressures. They use a reference point called the low-side pressure and compare it to the high-side pressure. Ports in the instrument are marked high-side and low-side.

The electrodes are installed perpendicular to the coils and opposite each other in the tube. The voltage at the electrodes increases as the fluid velocity increases. The faster the flow, the higher the voltage. The transmitter reads the voltage and converts it to a flow reading, for example Gallons Per Minute.

Rosemount pressure transmitters are used for the monitoring of differential, absolute, and gauge pressure in industrial processes. These devices produce an analog output signal, usually 4 to 20mA, sent to panel meters, control systems, controllers, and recorders for controlling and/or monitoring process operations.

Air-monitoring differential pressure transmitters measure air velocity in addition to pressure and airflow. They convert the differential reading into electrical output signals which are transmitted to a control room or remote monitoring panel.

The 2051 is available in 4-20mA HART, 1-5 Vdc HART Low Power, or FOUNDATION fieldbus output protocols.
