Yes, remote commissioning (online notary service or online notarization) of affidavits, oaths and statutory declarations is legal pursuant to O Reg 431/20, Administering Oath or Declaration Remotely, a regulation under the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act.

You may need to make an appointment, but bank clients can usually use notary services for free. Non-clients may be charged a fee.

Consular officials at any U.S. embassy or consulate abroad can provide a service similar to the functions of a notary public in the United States. It is also possible to have a document notarized by a local foreign notary or local government official and then have the document authenticated by a U.S. consular officer.

Sometimes, the individual is unable to travel to meet with one of our notaries. Sometimes there is a large group of people signing, making it impractical for everyone to travel to the Notary office. Red Seal Notary can arrange for a mobile notary whereby the notary will meet at a location most convenient to the client.

To get your document notarized, you must visit a Canadian public notary. A notary public can notarize and commission affidavits, oaths, affirmations and sworn statements declarations and certify true copies of a wide range of documents.

In most cases, from our experience, documents notarized by a Canadian Notary are accepted in the United States. But in some rare cases the third party who is accepting your documents may insist that the document be Notarized by a U.S. Notary.

NOTARIZED AND CERTIFIED TRUE COPIES First copy/document: $60. Additional copies: $20 each.

You will need to take your original document to a Notary Public and they will make the copy, making a statement that it is a Certified True Copy of the original, and include their signature and seal. If you do not have access to a Canadian Notary Public, we can help!
