First and foremost, Saint James is a fully accredited medical school that emphasizes rigorous academics and provides a veteran teaching staff who bring decades of real-world experience into the classroom.

In January 2021, the School of Medicine voluntarily withdrew its additional accreditation by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).

Academic Requirements Mininum of five CXC, CSEC or GCE O-level subjects in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics; Passes in two two-units of Biology, Chemistry and one other two-unit CAPE or A-level subject;

Accreditation of RUSM and Other Caribbean Medical Schools CAAM-HP is recognized by the U.S. National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation (NCFMEA) as meeting LCME standards.

CSMSJ is a registered by Jamaica Tertiary Education Commission as tertiary institution in Jamaica and has applied to CAAM-HP for accreditation.

MBBS/MD Course: The 4-year MD program for students is starting with five 16-week semesters in Jamaica and the sixth semester in Jamaica / USA. These first two years of the curriculum focus on basic science courses and their application in clinical medicine.

The approvals are limited and only a handful of US-accredited Caribbean medical schools have these approvals. Graduates on the approved list who complete the requisite licensing exams are eligible to practice in all US states and Canada.
