As soon as you know you're pregnant, make an appointment with your healthcare provider or midwife. Your first prenatal visit will provide information that can be used to check for any problems as your pregnancy progresses. The doctor will do a full physical exam, which may include a weight assessment, blood pressure check, and breast and pelvic examination. The components of a prenatal record include all the initial demographics, family, and personal medical and genetic history, complete physical examination and laboratory testing, and provides room for additional records and serial examinations to be recorded in a fashion to allow trending.
