Timberline Lodge may be booked for 1-night stays. The Lodge at Government Camp condos require a 2-night minimum.

It is notable in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining (1980). The lodge and its grounds host a ski resort, also known as Timberline Lodge.

Kubrick was asked not to depict Room 217 (featured in the book) in The Shining, because future guests at the lodge might be afraid to stay there. So a nonexistent room, Room 237, was substituted in the film. However, Room 217 is requested more often than any other room at Timberline.

Hood has to offer. The small chalet rooms are located near the heated outdoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. Chalet rooms have shared access to several private bathrooms with showers and toiletries. For a fun friends or family ski vacation, stay the night in a medium chalet bunk room.

For those wanting something closer to home, Timberline is probably better suited for beginner and intermediate skiers, while Meadows is probably a better fit for the intermediate to advanced demographic.

It's also loud (earplugs in the room). And no air conditioning. It would be a fun experience if you went to ski but I don't recommend as a normal hotel. The location is breathtaking.

Mountain Overview The lower chairlifts have an array of beginner and intermediate options. Sheltered by the trees, theses areas are awesome for families and beginner skiers and snowboarders.

At Timberline, every hotel room is as unique as the alpine landscape. Of the historic lodge's 70 guest rooms, over half are queen or queen-twin rooms. Each intimate room is richly decorated with original artwork and textiles, and sturdy handcrafted furniture.
