The Judicial Branch of New Mexico also provides online access through New Mexico Courts CaseLookup and the Secured Odyssey Public Access (SOPA). Interested applicants can access records by carrying out searches using the case number or the names of the persons involved in the case.

Public Records Request. By law, under the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA), every person has the right to inspect public records maintained by New Mexico Courts.

There are three ways to look at court records: Go to the courthouse and ask to look at paper records. Go to the courthouse and look at electronic court records. If your court offers it, look at electronic records over the internet. This is called “remote access.”

Cases typically originate in the trial courts and can be appealed to courts higher up in the system.

In order to a get a court order changing your name or a child's name, you must file a petition in the District Court in the county where you live. After you file your petition to change the name, you will get a court hearing.

New Mexico Public Criminal Records You can look up court cases by visiting the New Mexico Courts website and accessing the Case Lookup portal. You may also gain public access to a court's electronic records through the PACER database for the New Mexico District Court.
