Employees who hold an ABET Level 4 certificate are functionally literate. They are, thus, able to apply their English literacy and basic maths skills in all facets of life. This includes in the workplace where they use their English literacy and basic maths skills to perform at their best.

This is an entry-level qualification for those who want to enter the field of Education, Training and Development, specifically within the sub-field of Early Childhood Development (ECD). Many of those who will seek this qualification are already practising within the field, but without formal recognition.

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD Demonstrating knowledge of precautions to reduce the risk and spread of infection in adults and children. Providing care for children infected with or affected by HIV and AIDS in various Early Childhood Development settings.

Level 4 is indicative of a greater understanding and a higher level of learning than that gained through core modules at secondary education level. Examples of Level 4 qualifications include: Higher national certificate (HNC) Certificate of higher education (CertHE)

Once you have completed ABET level 4, you can then move to a different college to study for your Adult Matric, or go to a TVET college for your (NC (V))National Certificate (Vocational) qualifications.

You can still study further with your GETC: ABET level 4 qualification. With it, you qualify to study matric courses for adults, granted you are 21 years and older.

Level 4 qualifications are: certificate of higher education ( CertHE ) higher apprenticeship. higher national certificate ( HNC )
