Get Math 30 1 Lessons

Math 30-1 emphasizes the theoretical development and practical applications of topics from the areas of algebra, functions and graphing, trigonometry, and pre-calculus skills up to a level acceptable for entry into universities and other post-secondary institutions.

Mathematics 30-1 or Pure Math 30 are the Alberta, NWT and Nunavut equivalents of BC Pre-Calculus 12.

Written-response questions in Math 30–1 are worth five marks each and written-response questions in Math 30–2 are worth seven marks each. These questions require you to communicate your understanding of a math concept or apply an algebraic process to solve a problem.

Prerequisite: Math 30-1 is a prerequisite or corequiste to Math 31. Generally, students take Math 30-1 first, followed by Math 31, but the two courses can be taken concurrently.

Topics include trigonometry, transformations, exponential, logarithmic, polynomial, radical functions and equations along with permutations, combinations and the binomial theorem.

Students are required to know the definitions and expectations of directing words such as algebraically, compare, determine, evaluate, justify, and sketch.

Set yourself up for success at the beginning of the course. Attend class regularly, actively participate in classroom activities, and complete all assignments. The skills and knowledge that you gain in the course are essential to your success on the diploma exam.
