How long is the ROTC program? What is the schedule? As with other NSTP programs, the ROTC program, the basic course is taken for one (1) year divided into two (2) semesters. Training is held on Saturdays, from 7 am to 12 pm.

Army ROTC is the largest officer-producing organization with the American military, having over 600,000 men and women have earned a commission through the program.

Cadets who complete the four-year program can enlist after high school and enter recruit training at a higher rank (E-3 Private First Class instead of an E-1 Private). While JROTC is not a military-preparation program, it does have some military overtones.

At least two-thirds of the upcoming graduating cadets will receive an active duty tour. Cadets who receive Reserve Duty will serve in local Reserve or National Guard units one weekend a month, or serve in the Ready Reserves with no “drilling” requirement if a suitable unit is not available where you reside.

Sophomores (MS II) hold the rank of Cadet Corporal (C/CPL), but like the C/PVTs, they hold few leadership positions throughout the year. Juniors (MS III) hold the rank of Cadet Staff Sergeant (C/SSG) and are the first-level leaders for the freshmen and sophomores.
