Surrender process To place your name on our “Wait-List” for a surrender appointment, please fill out the form located at sspca.org/intake. The wait-list will store your place in line and ensure you get an appointment as quickly as possible. The nominal surrender fee we require will help us to care for your pet.

Contact the local dog warden They will ensure the dog's microchip is scanned and make every effort to return the dog to their owner. Your local vets or rehoming organisations can't take strays directly off the street or from well-meaning members of the public except under certain emergency situations.

If a dog seems too calm, that could also be a red flag. Conversely, a dog that seems very quiet or non-responsive to you might also have some hidden problems. The Cinco Ranch Veterinary Hospital warned that a dog that doesn't seem to react to new people positively or negatively might not be feeling well.

While some animals adjust quickly, others can pout and feel depressed for weeks before they start to show their positive qualities. And this is a fact that folks need to understand. Before you surrender your pets to a shelter, know that the dramatic change of environment can be brutal to their psyche.

Our surrender fee is $90 per pet or $90 per litter of puppies or kittens under 6 months old and helps us provide daily care for your pet. To get started, please complete an application below.

All adult dogs are currently free to adopt with a $20 licensing fee. Puppies 3 months and under require a $50 adoption fee. Dogs adopted from PACC will be spayed or neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.
