The Food Allergy Panel measures the levels of specific IgE antibodies in your blood to common food allergens. This panel measures immune responses to almond, cashew nut, codfish, cow's milk, egg white, hazelnut, peanut, salmon, scallop, sesame seed, shrimp, soybean, tuna, walnut, and wheat.

How To Interpret Results Values under 0.35 mean unlikely sensitization to the allergen. Values between 0.35-0.69 mean doubtful significance. Values between 0.70-3.49 mean there is a possibility. Values between 3.50-17.49 mean a greater possibility. Values between 17.50-49.99 mean very likely.

Interpreting test results Allergy skin tests results are typically reported as positive or negative. If there is an immune reaction to a potential allergen, that is considered a positive result. If not, then the test result is negative, which may indicate the patient does not have an allergy to that substance.

Generally speaking, skin tests are more sensitive than blood tests, meaning they are more likely to detect allergies that a blood test may miss. Skin tests also require less wait time, as results are typically delivered in 15-20 minutes, rather than the one to two week wait time of blood tests.

Oral Food Challenge (OFC) is the most accurate test to determine whether you have a food allergy. It can also determine whether you have outgrown a food allergy. During an OFC, you will eat pre-measured doses of a suspected food allergen and be closely monitored in the clinic for any type of reaction.

About 50% to 60% of all allergy blood tests give false-positive results. False-positive results show you have an allergy even when you don't. Sometimes false positives happen if your body is reacting slightly to substances in certain foods you've eaten recently.
