Moser's Street Axles are exactly what we needed. They are CNC-machined from forged 1541HM material that's induction heat-treated. That, along with specific design enhancements, produce an axle that's 30 percent stronger than stock.

Moser Engineering manufacture quality durable rear end differential components for automotive applications. Moser is one of the three big aftermarket differential manufacturers in the U.S. and as such they produce a massive range of differential products to suit automotive applications.

Noises: The most common sign of a failing rear differential will be a whining noise due to a lack of lubrication of its internal components. Gear Grinding: Humming noises and gear grinding can also indicate an issue with your rear differential.

The differential is essentially a complex box of gears that allows the wheels to turn at different speeds when you take turns. Without it, you'd be dragging your outside wheel along the pavement whenever you turn.

We begin with premium quality alloy steel that is forged in Moser designed tooling, induction heat-treated to optimize torsional strength, and 100% magnafluxed. These axles are non-tapered, with hardened bearing seats to fit OEM applications.

If new gears are needed the price can be at least $1,500. Going to the worst-case scenario, if the differential is beyond repair, you'll need the component to be replaced altogether. You can expect a rear differential replacement to cost up to $4,000.

The easiest way to tell if you have an open differential is to jack up the car and spin one of the rear tires. If the other wheel spins in the opposite direction, you have an open differential. If it spins in the same direction, you have a limited slip differential, or LSD.
