Processing Times: We will process your request in 8 weeks from the date we receive it. We are offering mail-in service but we are not currently offering in-person appointment service.

The third step in the process is the issuance of the apostille or certificate of authentication by the New York State Department of State. An application form must be completed. The documents in question, properly authenticated, must be attached and a fee paid. The fee is $10.00 per apostille or certificate.

An apostille or certificate of authentication issued by the New York Secretary of State is a one-page document with a blue, laser-printed facsimile of the New York Department of State Seal.

Obtaining an Apostille/Certificate of Authentication For New York City records, other than divorce certificates, please contact the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene or the New York City Marriage Bureau. The records must then be certified by the New York County Clerk's Office.
