This phrase requires brands or organizations to obtain written consent in order to send text messages to consumers who've opted in to receive them. These days, brands don't need a signed piece of paper. They can get a consumer's written consent electronically.

Place an opt-in form on your website that collects subscribers' contact information and asks if they would like to receive text communication from you. After they submit their form, you can send them a text to confirm their selection.

Informational / Express Consent Express consent comes in the form of an individual agreeing to receive texts in the future. You can obtain express consent by simply asking the customer over text after they text you, on your website, verbally, or on a written form.

The TCPA defines express written consent as a written agreement, signed by the consumer receiving the call or text, with a clear and visible disclosure that authorizes the business to send telemarketing communications.
