Get Trussville Gas And Water

On June 10, 1947, the town of Trussville was incorporated, absorbing both the Cahaba Village and “old Trussville.” Early in 1948, the government deeded all park property to the town.

The school was designed by Davis Architects and encompasses 360,000-square feet. Its design includes white columns and a clock tower, and at a final cost of $70 million, the school was the most expensive high school ever built in Alabama upon its opening in October 2008.

One early settler, Warren Truss (for whom the town is named), built a grist mill along the Cahaba River in the early 1820s. Fertile land and a plentiful water supply attracted others, and a settlement known at the time as "Truss" sprang up a few miles south of the mill.

Trussville Utilities' water comes from underground aquifers and contains such minerals that make it moderately hard.

But with the surrender of Creek land in 1814, white settlers flowed into Alabama to build homes by its rivers and use the bounty of its fields and forests. Among them was Warren Truss, a North Carolinian. Truss settled in the area sometime before 1820, acquiring 1,000 acres of land and building a mill on the Cahaba.
