The main purpose of the Legion of Mary is to give glory to God through the sanctification of its members. It has been active in the United States since 1931 and was endorsed by the Second Vatican Council. What does it do? The unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. Aside from extending our presence physically, we should also improve ourselves spiritually. There is a need for spiritual formation as the Legion of Mary is a spiritual organization.
