Consumer reporting agencies have 5 business days after completing an investigation to notify you of the results. Generally, they must investigate the dispute within 30 days of receiving it. However, it has 45 days to investigate if you dispute after receiving your free annual credit report.

If you detect loss, theft, or unauthorized use on your DCU credit card, report it immediately by calling 800.328. 8797.

While you will often have the results of your dispute much sooner, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires that Experian allow 30 days for the dispute process to be completed.

I am writing to dispute the following information that your company supplied to [give the name of the credit bureau whose report has incorrect information]. I have circled the items I dispute on the attached copy of my credit report(s).

The fastest way is to log into Digital Banking and chose the Membership tab. Under Services header, select Dispute a Transaction for the type of transaction you wish to dispute, i.e. ACH, ATM or VISA®. There is also information on handling card disputes contained with your statement every month.

If you file a dispute to correct what you believe is an inaccuracy on your credit report, the credit bureau you notify must complete an investigation within 30 days (or 45 days in certain circumstances), ing to the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act. But most disputes are resolved more quickly than that.

You can file a direct dispute by contacting the company that provided the information, or you can send a letter to the credit bureau that's reporting the error, which is called an indirect dispute.

Once we receive a completed Credit Report Direct Dispute Form we will begin our investigation, which could take up to 30 days to complete. You will receive notification from DCU as to the outcome. Use this form to report inaccurate information involving your account with DCU that is listed on a credit report.
