Wienerberger AG is an Austrian brick maker which is the world's largest producer of bricks, (Porotherm, Terca) and number one on the clay roof tile market (Koramic, Tondach) in Europe as well as concrete pavers (Semmelrock) in Central and Eastern Europe.

Raw Materials: Concrete bricks are made with a combination of sand, aggregate and cement. The primary aggregate is typically limestone. Clay bricks are made with surface clays, shales, and fire clays.

Clay is still one of the main brick materials, but other common materials are sand and lime, concrete, and fly ash. Calcium silicate bricks, popularly known as sand lime bricks, contain high amounts of sand—about 88–92 percent. The remaining 8–12 percent is mainly lime.

The traditional red bricks used in construction are typically made from clay, which is fired in a kiln to produce the final product. The red color is often a result of the iron content in the clay or, in some cases, a deliberate addition of iron oxide during the manufacturing process.

The main ingredient of most bricks is clay. It always has been. There are particular kinds of clay minerals that are more suited to making bricks and often the location of the clay can have an impact on the colour of the end product.
