PMCs take part in the decision-making or management of the provider. They: are a member of the group that makes executive or legal decisions on behalf of the provider. have authority, responsibility, or significant influence over planning, directing or controlling the provider.

Responsible persons A responsible person must be present at all times a centre-based service is educating and caring for children. A responsible person can be one of the following: the approved provider or a person with management or control of the provider if the approved provider is not an individual.

The Supervisor oversees the program planning, working effectively with staff, working with families and children, connecting with the community, and assuming administrative responsibilities related to the day to day operations of the day care centre.

Responsible People are in a position to guide and monitor the management of the charity. They need to understand and stay informed about the charity's activities and finances. For example, it may be a breach of this duty if a Responsible Person failed to attend several board meetings in a row.

Responsibilities of the nominated supervisor Supervision and safety of children and ensuring they are safe from hazards and not subject to inappropriate discipline. Entry to and exit from the premises including ensuring children do not leave the service and parents can enter the service at any time.
