Own a salon. You can own a salon without a license. That being said, you won't be able to shampoo or cut anyone's hair. You can manage your group of hairdressers and nail technicians.

Obtaining a cosmetologist license by examination means that you have completed a minimum of 1,250 hours in the cosmetology curriculum at a licensed school of cosmetology and passed the Pennsylvania Cosmetology Licensure Examination.

If you hold a valid cosmetology or barbering license, Texas law allows you to provide a limited range of services to customers outside of a licensed salon/shop, provided that you meet certain requirements.

If your license is still active, all you need to do is: File a renewal application at any point within your two year period of obtaining the license at the TDLR website, at which point you will also pay the $53 renewal fee. Take our 4 hour continuing education course.

SB 1287 requires the floor space of a licensed cosmetology salon operated by one licensed cosmetologist to have a minimum working area of 120 square feet with a minimum width of 10 feet. If other licensees are working in the salon, at least 60 square feet is required for each additional licensee in the salon.

All salons must apply for licensure at http://.pals.pa.gov and file the correct application with the State Board of Cosmetology. All salons must be inspected and pass inspection prior to operating per the Board's Regulations.
